Have you ever really thought about how many people and animals rely on other humans for their care? Many elderly humans, just like zoo animals, rely on other humans every day to live their lives in the best way that they can. In this series, I am creating connections between these people and animals through the use of my lens and composition. Every photo is composed in a similar way and every subject is looking directly through the camera. This builds a strong sense of connection and community with my audience in order for them to see deeper into my subjects’ lives and personalities. The size of the prints is larger than life in order to make the figures feel heroic which is what they deserve. I took inspiration for this exhibition from my grandfather who was a very talented photographer himself, and also from my mother who enjoys animal photography and going to the zoo with me. This exhibition is about these people and animals who need to be cared for in order for them to survive and live the best lives that they can under the conditions that they are in.
